Galadriel is an ancient elf, born in the lands west of Middle-earth. She travelled to Middle-earth and there she rules the land of Lothlorien, with her husband, Celeborn.

The fellowship meet Galadriel after their terrible journey through Moria. She offers them sanctuary and healing. She also looks into their minds and perceives their thoughts.

Frodo looks into the Mirror of Galadriel and sees what may come to pass. He offers her the ring, which she rejects. Galadriel further aids the company with gifts, each according to their need.
