Gimli is the representative of the proud race of the Dwarves in the Fellowship of the Ring. Though he is brash and opinionated, he is the rock of the fellowship.

Gimli leads the fellowship to the Mines of Moria, of which he tells of glorious feasts and wondrous treasures... until the horror of Moria is revealed.

While Gimli is shaken by the events in Moria, he is given strength of heart once the wonder and beauty of Lothlorien and Galadriel are revealed.
